Senior Database Administrator

Location: Penang Island, Penang

Job Descriptions:

• Manage and maintain databases that support systems and web-based applications.
• Ensure database performance, stability, and availability for platforms processing large volumes of patient monitoring data.
• Monitor database performance and perform performance tuning, including SQL optimization.
• Manage database backup, recovery, patching, and maintenance to ensure data integrity and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in production environments within defined SLAs.
• Administer database access control, user roles, and security in accordance with organizational policies.
• Collaborate closely with application teams and IT stakeholders to ensure databases support application performance and scalability.
• Support database migration initiatives from on-premise environments to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Provide recommendations to improve database scalability, reliability, and architecture as system expands.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3–5 years of experience in Database Administration.
• Strong hands-on experience managing Oracle databases in on-premise environments, including backup, recovery, patching, and upgrades.
• Experience in database performance tuning, SQL optimization, and database monitoring.
• Experience managing databases across multiple servers or distributed environments, with exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) or database cloud migration projects, will be an added advantage.
• Strong understanding of database security, access management, and data integrity, with the ability to troubleshoot production issues and a proactive mindset toward learning cloud technologies
