Data Center Facilities Engineer

Location: Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Kuala Lumpur

Job Descriptions:

• Engage actively and provide support throughout the design, commissioning, and ongoing operations of the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) system.
• Conduct a comprehensive analysis of thermal management performance within data centers, focusing on critical aspects such as hot spot mitigation, heat exchange efficiency, and airflow management.
• Take responsibility for the management and oversight of various HVAC equipment, including Fan Walls, Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRAC), chillers, pumps, chilled water valves, cooling towers, thermal energy storage systems, Computer Precision Air Handling Units (CPOS), ventilation fans, and Packaged Air Handling Units (PAHU), among others.
• Perform critical calculations related to cooling capacity, airflow velocity, and various HVAC-related parameters.
• Collaborate closely with the team to coordinate and analyze 2D/3D Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations.
• Implement strategies for thermal management within data halls and facilities rooms, including temperature and humidity control, air pressurization management, and an effective monitoring strategy.
• Analyze equipment performance to develop solutions that extend their operational lifespan and minimize downtime.
• Conduct detailed analysis of HVAC equipment failures and provide effective problem-solving solutions.
• Contribute to the development of schematic diagrams, calculations, installation procedures, commissioning protocols, and maintenance plans.
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to create comprehensive designs, including layouts, schematic diagrams, calculations, and simulations.
• Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Emergency Operating Procedures (EOP), Method of Procedures (MOP), and Test and Commissioning (T&C) documents for HVAC systems.
• Prepare reports on thermal management performance and conduct failure analysis assessments.
• Demonstrate strong teamwork by collaborating with operations teams, engineers, contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and consultants.
• Ensure the HVAC system meets tenant Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and bridges any gaps between tenant expectations and system performance.

Job Requirements:

• A Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/ Mechanical/ Electromechanical) or equivalent
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and intermediate-level PowerPoint.
• Experienced in project management within data center environments, with a hands-on approach to Testing and Commissioning (T&C).
• Proficiency in critical data center systems, including diesel generators, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, high and low-tension switchgear, power distribution equipment, chillers, Computer Room Air Handlers (CRAH), fire detection and suppression systems, and building monitoring systems.
• Familiarity with compliance requirements such as ISO27001, PCI-DSS, ISO50001, SS564, SOC1/2, and local regulations, as well as industry best practices.
• Demonstrated experience in data center construction, encompassing both greenfield and brownfield projects, along with expertise in Uptime TIER topology design and project management.
• A minimum of 5-6 years of relevant Facilities Management experience within Data Center Operations or certification from relevant Data Center professional training programs.
