Packaging Engineer

Location: Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur

Job Descriptions:

• Assist in designing and prototyping packaging solutions for new products, ensuring alignment with company quality and safety standards.
• Collect and prepare packaging material samples for testing, maintaining a well-organized inventory with proper labeling and storage.
• Conduct performance tests on packaging designs, including assessments of durability, shelf life, and compatibility, and document results in the system for further refinement.
• Collaborate with engineers, formulators, and processing teams to improve packaging designs based on feedback and test outcomes.
• Participate in brainstorming sessions to propose innovative packaging ideas and solutions.
• Support the preparation of technical documentation, such as specifications, test reports, and presentations.
• Assist engineers in developing packaging component specifications and finished product specifications.
• Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in packaging technologies.
• Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support to address and resolve packaging-related issues, ensuring production schedules and product quality are maintained.
• Contribute to packaging development project tasks and timelines, collaborating with the Global Project Manager to create and manage effective project plans and success criteria.
• Continuously develop technical knowledge and skills in packaging development.
• Lead and conduct tests on both primary and secondary packaging components.
• Collaborate with the Product Data Management Team to build Bills of Materials (BOM) in the PLM system.
• Assist in reviewing lab test procedures, scale-up protocols, and specifications to support new product launches.
• Leverage internal and external resources, such as suppliers, intellectual property, and literature, to identify and apply scientific and technological solutions to packaging challenges.

Job Requirements:

• Proficient in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical, Materials Engineering or a relevant engineering.
• With 3–5 years of experience in packaging development, with a solid understanding of primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging development and qualification processes, including product compatibility, shelf-stability, and distribution testing.
• Strong adaptability and a demonstrated ability to learn new skills.
• Proven problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate and communicate risk profiles and mitigation plans, with a strategic approach to navigating complex or ambiguous situations.
• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional team members.
• Proactive and results-driven mindset.
